Warrington Special Free School
Warrington is running this competition to effectively enable the realisation of our SEND strategy, which seeks to meet the needs of our children and young people in an increasingly cost-effective manner through access to in-borough special school provision. A need has been identified for a new special school to support children and young people with a primary need of Autistic Spectrum Disorder from KS2 to KS4 due to a lack of local specialist provision to meet demand and children’s needs. If appropriate, places can also be offered for Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) dependent on individual needs and profile of the cohort. The new special free school will be an important addition to the portfolio of specialist provision available to children, young people and their families in Warrington. It will enable greater choice for children and young people ensuring they can access a high quality education within their local community.
