Supporting people

Supporting People is a national programme which involves Warrington Borough Council, Warrington Primary Care Trust, The National Probation Service (Cheshire), Service Providers and Service Users.

The Supporting People programme focuses on the planning, commissioning and monitoring of housing related support services. The aim of Supporting People is to provide support to help develop a person’s capacity to live independently.

Social Housing

Social housing in Warrington is provided by a number of Registered Providers (formerly known as Housing Associations).

Social housing accounts for around 16.4% of the total housing in Warrington.  The council's own housing stock was transferred  to Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT) in 2010 and this organisation now operates as an independent Registered Provider and is totally separate from the council.  The council retains a very small number of properties which are used for specialist supported housing or emergency and short term accommodation for homeless individuals and families.  These are not available for let to the general public.
